The Projects folder includes any phar files I might need so as not to duplicate them across projects. I have a Projects folder inside my home directory and a folder for each project. I store all my project files in WSL2, specifically Ubuntu, the project root for PHPStorm will normally be something like \\wsl$\Ubuntu\home\\Projects\. PHPStorm works relatively flawlessly with WSL2, well it did and will again without a tweak after the 16th of January. Oxygen also exists in two allotropic forms (physically or chemically different forms of the same substance): one atom per molecule (O) and three atoms per molecule (O 3). In water it occurs as hydrogen oxide, H 2O, and in the lithosphere it occurs in compounds such as oxides, carbonates, sulfates, silicates, phosphates, and nitrates. In the atmosphere, it exists as elemental oxygen, sometimes known as dioxygen because it consists of diatomic molecules, O 2. It occurs both as a free element and in a large variety of compounds. It is the most abundant element in Earth's crust, making up about one-quarter of the atmosphere by weight, about one-half of the lithosphere (Earth's crust), and about 85 percent of the hydrosphere (the oceans, lakes, and other forms of water). Oxygen is a colorless, odorless, tasteless gas with a melting point of −218 ☌ ( −360 ☏) and a boiling point of −183 ☌ ( −297 ☏). Radioactive decay: The predictable manner in which a population of atoms of a radioactive element spontaneously disintegrate over time. Proteins: Large molecules that are essential to the structure and functioning of all living cells. Producer gas: A synthetic fuel that consists primarily of carbon monoxide and hydrogen gases. Ozone: An allotrope of oxygen that consists of three atoms per molecule. Nascent oxygen: An allotrope of oxygen whose molecules each contain a single oxygen atom. Metallurgy: The science and technology that deals with gaining metals from their ores and converting them into forms that have practical value. Lithosphere: The solid portion of Earth, especially the outer crustal region. Isotopes: Two or more forms of the same element with the same number of protons but different numbers of neutrons in the atomic nucleus. Words to KnowĪcid: Substances that, when dissolved in water, are capable of reacting with a base to form salts and release hydrogen ions.Īllotrope: One of two or more forms of an element.Ĭombustion: A form of oxidation that occurs so rapidly that noticeable heat and light are produced.Ĭracking: The process by which large hydrocarbon molecules are broken down into smaller components.Įlectrolysis: The process by which an electrical current causes a chemical change, usually the breakdown of some substance. Oxygen is a gaseous nonmetal sulfur and selenium are solid nonmetals tellurium is a solid metalloid and polonium is a solid metal. In another respect, the elements are quite different from each other. These elements all have six electrons in their outermost energy level, accounting for some common chemical properties among them. The oxygen family consists of the elements that make up group 16 on the periodic table: oxygen, sulfur, selenium, tellurium, and polonium. The film that confirmed Phoenix as a star was the historical epic Gladiator (2000). He and "Paradise" co-star Vince Vaughn re-teamed almost immediately for the small-town murder caper Clay Pigeons (1998), which Joaquin followed with a turn as a porn store clerk in 8MM (1999). (The pair dated for almost three years.) He returned to the big screen later that year with a supporting role in Oliver Stone's U Turn (1997), then played a locked-up drug scapegoat in Return to Paradise (1998). His follow-up turn in Inventing the Abbotts (1997) scored more critical kudos and, perhaps more importantly, introduced him to his one-time fiancée Liv Tyler. The performance made Joaquin (who had dropped Leaf and reverted to his birth name) a critics' darling in his own right. He finally signed up to work with Gus Van Sant (who had directed River in My Own Private Idaho (1991) and Even Cowgirls Get the Blues (1993)) to star as Nicole Kidman's obsessive devotee in To Die For (1995). Months later, at the insistence of friends and colleagues, Joaquin began reading through scripts again, but he was reluctant to re-enter the acting life until he found just the right part. Joaquin made the call to 911, which was rebroadcast on radio and television the world over. On October 31, 1993, he was at The Viper Room (a Los Angeles nightclub partly-owned by Johnny Depp) when his brother River collapsed from a drug overdose and later died. Joaquin returned to the public eye three years later under tragic circumstances. His parents were in the process of separating, so he struck out for Mexico with his father. His performance was very well-received, but Joaquin decided to withdraw from acting for a while-he was frustrated with the dearth of interesting roles for actors his age, and he wanted to see more of the world. As it happened, Universal Pictures had just opened a new studio in the area and he was cast almost immediately as an angst-ridden adolescent in Parenthood (1989). River's film career had enough momentum to sustain the move, but Joaquin wasn't sure what lay in store for him in the Sunshine State. In the late '80s, the Phoenix clan decided to pull up stakes and relocate again-this time to Florida. He made his big-screen debut as the youngest crew member in the interstellar romp SpaceCamp (1986), then won his first starring turn in the Cold War-era drama Russkies (1987). He worked with his brother again on the afterschool special Backwards: The Riddle of Dyslexia (1984), then struck out on his own in other made-for-TV productions. Joaquin's first real acting gig was a guest appearance on River's sitcom, Seven Brides for Seven Brothers (1982). Commercials for meat, milk, and junk food were off-limits (the kids were all raised as strict vegans), but they managed to find plenty of work pushing other products. They eventually found an agent who was willing to represent all five children, and the younger generation dove into television work. Arlyn found work as a secretary at NBC, and John turned his talents to landscaping. The family moved often, traveling through Central and South America (and adopting the surname "Phoenix" to celebrate their new beginnings) but, by the time Joaquin was age 6, they had more or less settled in the Los Angeles area. Younger sisters Liberty Phoenix and Summer Phoenix rounded out the talented troupe. When the children were encouraged to develop their creative instincts, he followed their lead into acting. As a youngster, Joaquin took his cues from older siblings River Phoenix and Rain Phoenix, changing his name to Leaf to match their earthier monikers. His mother is from a Jewish family from New York, while his father, from California, is of mostly British Isles descent. His parents, from the continental United States, were then serving as Children of God missionaries. Joaquin Phoenix was born Joaquin Rafael Bottom in San Juan, Puerto Rico, to Arlyn (Dunetz) and John Bottom, and is the middle child in a brood of five. Since I can’t afford to regularly buy fresh bouquets from the store, I’ve planted a few varieties in our yard that are perfect for cutting. If you don’t want the hassle of caring for live houseplants, you could also add some realistic faux plants ( like this set of three) to get the same look. We have one that my husband had before we were married, and it’s now over twenty years old! My favorite plant is the Pothos, which is the perfect houseplant for beginners. But, sadly, you all are thinking of the Macbook pros. Y'all, trust me, if the ram could have been upgraded in this, I would have done so. I still had all my settings, the few files I downloaded, etc. I did, since I just got the thing, and had nothing important on it, so it wasn't going to be a huge issue if something went wrong, but in my case, nothing did. Each person has to decide whether or not they want to take that risk. You must understand, there is risk in anything like this you decide to do, and some features may not work 100% correctly, and you do this, knowing that is a possibility. If you have an older Mac, but perhaps a little newer than this one I have, and Apple has stopped supporting it, you just might want to consider this as an option. I'll report back with any further developments. I mean, at times you would think you were back to spinning hard drive days. Not so bad once you actually get in to the app you want to work with, but between the press to launch that app, and the time it actually launches, it can be 10-15 seconds. Observations so Far? Well, with only 4 gb of ram, and a dual core processor, it's slow. Next step, get Windows up and running via Bootcamp. Secondly? I'm a geek, and upon hearing it was possible, I just wanted to see if it would actually work. First is security, because the last officially supported OS by Apple for my Mac was Catalina, so that's pretty far back, and a lot of security exploits have been patched since then. Once you actually get in to the installer, VO works, and it's just like installing any other version of Mac OS from a flash drive. I didn't do it fast enough a few times, so it ended up booting me right back in to the OS, not the installer. You have to press enter on EFI Boot, then very quickly right arrow once over to your usb installer, and enter again. When you restart, you hold down the option key like you would to choose between Mac or Windows, if you've ever ran Bootcamp. I was pleasantly surprised to find this out.Īfter you go through and build your installer, and then patch the efi partition of that installer, comes the part where you may need sighted assistance. How is this done? You use an app called Open Core Legacy Patcher. I literally finished doing this about an hour ago or less, and I can confirm it works, the process is mostly Voiceover friendly, but in the first little bit, some sighted assistance may come in handy depending on your skill level. It only has 4 gb of ram, so pretty sad that that can't be upgraded, but I did have a friend help me out in replacing the 128 gb ssd with one that is 512 gb, and we put a new battery in it. It's a 2012 MacBook Air, so very old and not fast in the least bit. I just wanted to let you all know about this, as it might not be widely known in the Applevis community that this is possible, but I have managed to install Mac OS Ventura on the MacBook Air that I was just given a few days ago.
